Brief Biography

I grew up in Perry, Oklahoma on a family farm, which includes a cow-calf ranch, commercial hay production, and a small acreage of crop production. I was always interested soybeans because of their flexible planting time from April until July and their importance as a feedstock in animal agriculture. Growing up in the volatile Great Plains, I was accustomed to the struggles with weather, pests, and diseases that plague crop and animal production. I am motivated to become a plant breeder to find new ways to adapt crops to such conditions while improving quality and yield. In my personal time, I enjoy running, Oklahoma football, and gardening.
